The Custodial Supervisor at the Grape Creek ISD School District is extremely meticulous about maintenance of the VCT in his schools. His floors, even before the application of ViteraLoc (the most important component of the Synergy Hard Floor System), were some of the best looking floors around due to his maintenance and care program. His maintenance program for the floors was as follows: strip and wax the floors once a year (six coats of good quality wax); burnish the floors two times weekly; re-apply wax occasionally where needed.
When asked if he would like to do a test section of the ViteraLoc in his school, he agreed and chose the busiest hallway of one of his middle schools. There are a couple of things that need to be noted about this hallway. First, all of the students walk through the hallway at least twice a day. Second, the hallway takes a large amount of abuse because rather than having grass lawns and large amounts of concrete, the school is surrounded completely by red dirt and gravel.
The ViteraLoc was applied in December of 2010 (over winter break) with instructions to simply dust mop or sweep daily to keep the floors looking good. On June 3rd, 2011, we returned to that school to take some pictures and see how the floor was doing after a semester of hard use. Below are some of the pictures taken.

When we went to take the pictures, all of the floors, excepting the ones that had the ViteraLoc applied, were maintained as specified above. There are a couple of things that are very evident when looking at these pictures. All of the pictures make it very obvious that there is a greater depth of gloss on the floor that is treated with ViteraLoc. In the first picture, you will notice that the reflection of the overhead light stops abruptly where the test section stops (in the doorway). The second picture shows this as well with the reflection from the window. The reflective quality of ViteraLoc is especially evident in the fourth picture, where the outline of the door is clearly visible. Please bear in mind that the only cleaning and maintenance that this floor has received during the entire semester of heavy foot traffic has been a daily sweeping.
Another thing that bears noting is the fact that there are no scratches on the ViteraLoc. This means that in spite of the fact that students brings rocks and gravel in with their shoes, Synergy Hard Floor System stands up well to the task. Finally, notice that there are no stains on the floor, another way that the Synergy Hard Floor System keeps things looking great.
This case study strongly supports that the application of ViteraLoc to VCT will result in the following:
- Significant reduction of maintenance time and cost
- Improvement of the appearance of the floor
- Prevention of all staining
- Providing a scratch-resistant barrier to increase floor appearance and life-span
